Dirty brushes, cracked eye shadows palette,
stained lipsticks and dried and expired mascaras, dusty makeup bags which
supposed to make us more beautiful can be pretty disgusting. When left
unkempt or unused, a once-organized cosmetic pouch can become a breeding ground
for bacteria, dust and clutter, and it can add a whole lot of stress to your
daily getting-ready regime.
It is important to keep your cosmetic bag or
makeup counter clean and tidy and make it a regular habit to do so.
Here are some tips for stress-free cosmetic
organization.
Dispose the Old
A few guidelines:
Mascara and liquid eyeliner:
3-4 months. Make sure you’re diligent about
replacing these items to prevent contamination and infections.
Eye and
lip pencils:
3-5
years. Sharpen them before each use as a way to preserve them and keep them
clean.
Foundation:
About
2 years. Most bottles are designed to last that long. Powder foundation can
last up to 4 year if well maintained.
Lipstick and lip gloss:
About
2-3 years.
Categorize your Products
Identify the expired products and disposed them. Get rid of any products that you haven't used
in over a year (regardless of their expiration date). Wipe the rest of your
cosmetics clean with a damp cloth and sort by type before putting them back
away.
Clean Your Brushes
Sometimes, we tend to forget to clean makeup
brushes, going for months and even years without properly sanitizing the
brushes you use on a daily basis. But dirty brushes can become stiff and
brittle, and may clog your pores from bacteria and oil. So invest a brush
cleaner!
Organize few compartment
After cleaning and sorting out, put your
cosmetics into a clean makeup bag that fits your needs size-wise, or zip lock
sorted by type. If you have a lot of makeup that you want to keep in one place
and compartmentalized, invest in a train case which keeps it dust free.
